From the car park cross over to the other side of the road and walk back up the hill. The start of the track is on your right.

After that little warm up, you will be ready for the aerobics steps to the top. 4 minutes at the first turn off turn to the left. The harbour should always be on your left shoulder. 3 Minutes the second turn off. Again turn to the left.

From here on enjoy the view. The walk from here is mostly downhill. We were just in time to see the Picton ferry steaming in to Wellington. The next turn off is 17 minutes, turn left and keep walking downhill, the track to Tarakena Bay is what you are looking for. There is a track cutting in on your right to Beacon Hill Rd, give it a miss.

When the trees are low enough you can look north out to Wellington Airport and the city. 6 minutes take the fork to the left, follow the sign.

Looking down into Eve Bay, this is where you will be in 45 minutes. Looking south and out to Pencarrow Heads, and the historic light house.
