From the War Memorial on Talbot Street, follow the mostly-straight track until you find the river.
The beginning of the track is also right beside a dog exercise area, if you have your pet with you and want to take a detour. Afterwards, you will have to keep your dog on a leash until you reach Todd Park.
When you reach the river, head left to walk alongside it. There are a number of smaller paths that you can choose from along the way, but they eventually rejoin the walkway’s track. All paths generally follow the direction of the river.
Cross Wilson St and you will soon reach the Crown Hotel’s (or Heritage Hotel’s) car park. There you will find a sign to continue along the walkway.
Once you reach the traffic bridge on SH79, walk across the grass to make your way back along the river bank. The walk ends when you reach the pedestrian bridge at Wilson St.
Rhododendron flower and flowering cherries, amongst other plants, are lovely to look at along this walk.
