Full walk description
As we were staying in Rotorua and I’d never explored Kuirau Park before, it was about time I did!
Kuirau Park’s geothermal features are its main attraction, with an array of boiling mud pools and vigorous steam vents scattered throughout the area. These natural wonders are accessible through well-maintained walking tracks so you can safely explore the geothermal landscape. Follow my 3D video map below to get the best walk possible.
Stop at the geothermally heated foot baths where you can soothe your feet while enjoying the outdoor ambiance. There are 2 pools on one side the the big pond and another bigger one on the other side. Families are well catered to with a playground that keeps younger visitors entertained.
Local market on Saturday
The park is also a hub for community life, especially on Saturdays when a local market brings together vendors selling everything from crafts to food, providing a taste of local culture and produce. Find out more about it and other events in Rotorua here.
There are boardwalks, improving access for all visitors, including those with mobility challenges. Now everyone can enjoy the spectacular sights without hindrance.
Picnic areas are strategically placed throughout the park, stop and stay for lunch.
Kuirau Park is really awesome, I still can’t believe it’s actually free, considering everything else in Rotorua you seem to have to pay for.
