Lake Marian Falls are not commonly known in and of themselves, since most people come across them while completing the Lake Marian track to the lake itself.
However, for those short on time, the 20 minute walk to the falls and back is a relaxing alternative. From the Lake Marian car park, cross the swinging bridge over the Hollyford River, which is also a sight to see with its rushing clear blue water. On the other side of the bridge, you will find yourself immersed in a thick forest. It won’t take long for you to hear the sound of the rushing water ahead. After about 10 minutes, you will reach a long wooden platform that overlooks the Lake Marian Falls. The falls cascade down the creek amidst massive rocks.
This platform is known as “The Gantry” and continues past the falls on the track to Lake Marian. From Marian Falls, you can return to the car park or continue on to the lake if you are well-prepared. After the falls, the track inclines steadily as Lake Marian is nestled in a mountain valley.
