My day on Capri unfolded with a blend of exploration, relaxation, and a touch of indulgence.
I started with a ferry ride from Amalfi Town, enjoying a scenic tour around the island as we approached the port of Marina Grande. This tour provided a great introduction to Capri’s dramatic coastline, including the iconic Faraglioni rock formations.
Upon disembarking, I opted for a local bus ride up the winding roads to reach the summit, Monte Solaro. The journey offered glimpses of the island’s lush vegetation and charming villages nestled amongst the cliffs. The road was really skinny and quite scary at times, glad I wasn’t driving.
Reaching the 589-meter (1,932-foot) peak, I was rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the entire island, the Amalfi Coast, and the Sorrento peninsula. WOW! There is an amazing restaurant and bar right on the top. I stopped for a drink.
For a unique return trip, I opted for the iconic Capri funicular, a charming funicular railway popularly known as the “gondola.” This thrilling ride offered a different perspective of the island’s landscape as it descended towards Marina Grande, completing my day on Capri with a touch of excitement.
I indulged in a delicious lunch at one of Capri’s many upscale restaurants, enjoying the local fresh food and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
Next, I explored the narrow streets of Capri town, window-shopping through the numerous luxury boutiques. While the designer brands and high-end products were undeniably impressive, the price tags often proved to be quite eye-watering. It’s an expensive place to shop on Capri!
You might be lucky enough to see someone famous, unfortunately, I wasn’t so lucky, however, there were a lot of very wealthy people wandering around town.
