Start at the Control Gates and follow the path that hugs the lake past Dock Bay. The lush green forest of red beech trees makes the walk a fully immersive experience. Don’t expect to see any mountains from here as the trees tower over you and the moss gross on the ground floor beneath. Luckily, both Dock Bay and Brod Bay beaches allow a break from the trees to glance at the mountains.

After Dock Bay, you will cross Coal Creek Bridge and continue the track along the shore of the lake in the same native forest. The track opens up once more onto Brod Bay. While this walk is a popular day hike, Brod Bay also has a campsite. You will definitely want to remember to pack your swimsuit for this one—as well as insect repellent. The track is notorious for having plenty of sandflies.

If you are continuing on the Kepler track, enjoy the views on the lake as it is all inland and uphill from here on out.
