This is a short 10 minute walk one way from the corner of Wilkin St and Princes St to where the stream meets Shaw St. The track itself is along the Taumatakahu Stream, as it meanders through the Taumatakahu Reserve.
It is an easy walk that allows you to take in the vegetation of the area, as well as a variety of ducks along the way.
The track continues past the Reserve across Gammack Street and, further, past Maude St, hopefully, you might get to see a beautiful Tui along the way.
Though the walk is officially from Wilkin St to Shaw St, it is possible to start and stop the walk at several different points.
Enter Temuka Domain from the entrance across the Police Station. Follow the road towards and then past the swimming pool. Turn right in front of the Temuka Holiday Park, following the signs for walking tracks.
Follow the track as it makes its way next to the gold course. When you reach the Y-intersection, head left to cut through the golf course and circle back towards Domain Ave.
Walk along Domain Ave under tall gum trees to return to your starting point.
